In Loving Memory of
GR CH Huzur's Cesaret (Josie)
Valentines Day, 1997 to June 12, 2007

To our beloved Josie,
Your spirit and zest for life will live on forever in our hearts and in the fields of Double H Ranch

A PARTING PRAYER ... to our beloved Josie
 by Brandy Duckworth

Dear Lord,  please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please us.

Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant us the strength not to dwell on our loss.
Help us remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown us.
And grant us the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember us as well
and let her know that we will always love her.
And when it's our time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring us home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord,
for granting us the strength
to give her to you now.

Amen

EXHUBERANT PLAY OF THE ADOLESCENT and ADULT ANATOLIAN SHEPHERD:

Click here for Red (age 1)  and his mother, Josie, age 7
Anatolians of all ages love to play and rough-house, especially  teenagers. Both companion and working dogs will need a place and the opportunity to release their energy. Really rough puppy play needs to be curbed in order to prevent  injuries to growing bones and joints .

Anatolians do not like predatory birds. Here you see a hawk which has settled in a nearby tree. Red is on high alert .

One hour later, there are 7 hawks in the tree. Red spent the entire morning keeping the hawks at bay.
Where were the goats? Watchfully snoozing, safe from harm.

Livestock Protection Dogs by Dawydiak and Sims

Leader of the Pack by Nancy Baer and Steve Dunno
This book specifically addresses how to be in charge of a dominant, controlling dog. The author’s present training advice by first providing an understanding of a dog’s way of thinking through extremely interesting vignettes of wolf pack behavior. These stories are used as metaphors to illustrate specific concepts such as leadership, fairness, cooperation and respect within a pack. Following each story (each addresses a specific training issue), the author’s then provide specific training exercises for use with your dog. This book is excellent for establishing respect and maintaining control of a dog with a dominant temperament using gentle and humane methods.
